How CELLID works

Contributors collect observations

People use apps and devices to record nearby cell identifiers alongside their GPS location, then share those observations with CELLID.

Observations become estimates

CELLID processes the measurements to estimate cell locations. New observations add missing cells and refine existing estimates.

Apps put the data to work

Apps look up the cells a device can detect. Those estimated cell locations can help locate the device when GPS is unavailable.
